When it comes to this Denver new build we used the traditional wood which was 4″ white oak in #2 grade (rustic). The homeowners wanted that rustic wood look on the second floor and on three flights of stairs. Because the main level of this home has polished concrete floor, the stairs were spec’d to have the waterfall look (no tread overhang). We did just that and we finished it with one of the coolest colors we came up with. We used the European oil finish as the finishing method which created an amazing look with the rustic wood undertones.
