With today’s technology, your contractor should be able to offer at least 5 different finishes and explain what each does to select the right finish for your lifestyle. Not all finishes are created equal; some will last barely 3-4 years, and others can last as long as 15 years.
The finish is as important as the engineered hardwood construction. The finish is the first defense against damages and wear and tear. Quality oil finishes can be easier to repair and maintain than cheap or low-cost lacquer or polyurethane finishes. Selecting an engineered hardwood with a quality finish is an important step to receiving a long-term hardwood product.
There are more finishes available now than ever before! Besides the popular water-based finish, our most popular finish is European penetrating oil or hard wax oil finish. As a trusted Denver hardwood specialist, we have been using these finishes for the past eight years and have seen the same or better results than the traditional water-based finishes. Once applied, our preferred European oil finish can be maintained without the need to refinish your floors again.
